Belize is an incredible vacation destination. It’s an ideal choice for travelers who are ready to venture outside the country and experience an exotic locale – but who don’t want to fly halfway around the world. Just a few hours from the U.S., Belize is an English-speaking country packed with exciting adventures, delectable cuisine, and fresh fruit juice cocktail recipes at every turn.

Can’t make it to Belize right away? Make these Belize cocktail recipes at home to enjoy a little taste of the island on your tongue.

1. Rum Punch – Appearing on every drink menu in the country, Rum Punch is the national cocktail of Belize. Made from sugarcane, rum originated in the Caribbean – and it’s still the most popular liquor in the region. Rum Punch is quick and easy to make. You’ll need 2 cups of white rum and 1 cup of coconut rum. Add 2 ½ cups each of fresh orange juice and pineapple juice. Finally, mix in 1/2 cup of fresh lime juice and 3 tablespoons of grenadine – or enough to make the punch into a pretty pink color. Simply stir all the ingredients together in a pitcher or punch bowl, and chill before serving. Use short rocks glasses full of ice, and garnish your Rum Punch with slices of orange and pineapple. This recipe yields 8-10 servings.

2. Watermelon Daiquiri – Commonly served States-side as its strawberry cousin, this refreshing Belize cocktail is the perfect blend of sweet, sour, and summery. To make four frozen daiquiris, you’ll need four cups of cubed fresh watermelon. Freeze your fruit in a shallow pan for at least six hours. In a blender, combine your frozen watermelon along with ½ cup light rum, ¼ cup orange flavored liqueur, and ¼ cup lime juice. Puree until smooth, scraping the sides of your blender. Add ice until the mixture reaches five cups and then taste it. If your watermelon wasn’t sweet enough, you may want to add a couple of teaspoons of sugar or honey. Serve in margarita glasses and garnish with a slice of fresh watermelon.

3. Panty Rippah – While the name may only be appetizing for certain people, this Belizean cocktail is a hit with everyone. Enjoy all the flavors of a piña colada, without the high calorie count from the coconut cream. It couldn’t be easier to make a Panty Rippah (aka Panty Ripper). Stir together equal parts coconut rum and fresh pineapple juice. Serve over ice in a rocks glass, and garnish with a wedge of pineapple and a cherry if you so desire. Be careful – this delicious fruit cocktail is remarkably easy to drink!

4. Banana Daiquiri – Bananas taste better in the Caribbean, and this creamy cocktail will win you over. To make two Banana Daiquiris, blend together one yellow banana (sliced in half), ½ cup of coconut milk, 2 ounces of white rum, ¼ cup honey and the juice from half a lime. Some people may prefer to use sugar in place of the honey. Add three cups of ice, and blend for about one minute, or until smooth. Serve in a tall glass, and garnish with a slice of banana on a drink umbrella.
